## Brand History

Founded in 1976, MOONSTONE is an American outdoor wear brand.

**Founder:** Fred WILLIAMS

Fred Williams, who majored in mountain rescue at university, started the brand by creating a three-dimensional sleeping bag using Polarguard for his own rescue team.

The sleeping bags were used by the rescue team and their comfort was proven, leading many people to desire them.

To meet their demands, Fred began producing sleeping bags at Moonstone Beach in Northern California, and the brand name is derived from this beach.

In the 1980s, Fred leveraged his extensive experience as a mountaineer to begin producing outdoor apparel, and MOONSTONE grew significantly.

Outdoor apparel requires functionality, comfort, and durability.

He actively used cutting-edge technologies like GORE-TEX and microfleece to create products for mountaineers, by mountaineers, that were more than just outdoor apparel.

In 2001, the rights were sold to PACIFIC TRAIL.

In 2006, it was absorbed by Columbia and ceased to exist.
