The Control Technology Inc. (CTI) 2589-A is an 8/16/32-Point Universal Discrete Input Module designed to accept both AC and DC voltage inputs. It is compatible with the CTI 2500 Series® and Simatic® 505 I/O bases. The module can be configured to log in as 8, 16, or 32 points. However, in 240VAC applications, only up to 16 points can be used.
It's important to note that the 2589-A has been designated as a mature product and has been replaced by the 2589-B module. The 2589-B offers enhanced capabilities, allowing operation of all 32 points at 240VAC, compared to only 16 points on the 2589-A. Additionally, the 2589-B can be configured to log in as 8, 16, or 32 points, providing greater flexibility.
