Original African Djembe drum

So here's the story behind this so called " hippy drum" It is considered the most versatile membranophone in Africa, this skin covered drum that is tuned by a rope can release a wide range of sounds and tones . With this intense sound and volume it has the ability to demonstrate a large ensemble of percussion. It's sound like no other can be heard very clearly and accurately over all other instruments. The Djembe drum dates back to western Africa in 1230 AD. The name when translated from its original Bambera language means"GATHER PEACE" Normally lenke wood is used because it's logs a very hard as well as it's spiritual value. Goat skin is the most popular leather to stretch across the drum because of its thickness. And kermantle rope has always traditionally been a favorite because of its tightening value and does not stretch easily. Over 25 different sounds can be made on this drum when mastered
