This industrial Tool (10560 from Slice) with an extra-long tool is specially designed to cut thick materials such as foam, batting, and insulation. Slice's patent-pending blade design is safe to the touch. Our safety blades may seem dull at first, but they're sharpened to an effective level and they stay there up to 11 times longer than standard steel blades, which wear down quickly when cutting materials like fibreglass insulation. Traditional blades are oversharpened to compensate for quick dulling. Slice blades hold their edge much longer and don't need to start at a dangerous level of sharpness. The 10560 Tool features an automatic retraction safety mechanism. The user holds the slider to keep the blade extended. When the slider is released, the blade automatically retracts into the handle, preventing accidental lacerations if the Tool is dropped. The industrial Tool is popular with manufacturers and installers who work with foam or insulation and are trying to minimize lacerations. Manual retraction is available in the 10559 model. The Tool handle is made from lightweight, durable reinforced nylon and is tough enough to withstand worksite use. The 100 percent zirconium oxide blade is extremely hard and wear resistant. As with all knives, the blade is not intended to withstand a side load and should not be used as a screwdriver or pry bar. The Industrial Tool's ergonomic handle design allows for a natural, comfortable grip. The slider is textured for easy gripping. Quick-release blade change requires no tools and lets the user switch from right- to left-handed orientation and back again with ease. Because our blades are finger friendly, blade change is a much less risky procedure than it is with traditional blades. The 10560 is compatible with three blades: a rounded-tip blade (10538), a pointed-tip blade (10539), and a serrated-edge blade (10540). The Tool ships with an installed rounded-tip blade for safety.
