W. Winston Elliott III is Publisher and Editor in Chief of The Imaginative Conservative and President of The Free Enterprise Institute. In 2014 he was named Visiting Professor of Liberal Arts in the Honors College of Houston Christian University. In 2021 he became Senior Fellow of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation. From 2019-2023 he has served as publisher of the St. Austin Review, a Catholic magazine of literature and culture.
The Imaginative Conservative is an e-journal, which has published 9,000 essays by 1,500 authors since its debut in 2010 and has been read by more than 31 million readers. As president of the Free Enterprise Institute Mr. Elliott has since 1992 directed seminars for academics, college students, and teachers.
Mr. Elliott received his Master of Arts in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College (Annapolis & Santa Fe), Master of Arts in Theology from the University of St. Thomas (Houston), and was awarded the Master of Business Administration, with Honors, from the University of Houston. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Washington College (Maryland). In 1994 he was named Adjunct Professor of Business and Public Policy with Northwood University (Midland, Michigan), where he taught economics and public policy from 1993 until 1997.
Mr. Elliott served on the Board of Directors of Wyoming Catholic College from 2016-2022. He served on the President’s Council of St. John’s College (2015-2017). He also served on the Board of Trustees of the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, and the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Society. The Society is an academic association devoted to the preservation of the ideals of the Founding Fathers.
In 1983, Mr. Elliott founded Entre’ Computer Center (Houston). He served as President of this computer services company until it was sold in 1991. At the time of sale, the company had annualized revenue of 12 million dollars and forty employees.
Mr. Elliott was born in Salisbury, Maryland. He is married to the author Barbara J. Elliott (Street Saints, Candles Behind the Wall) who is the founder and President of the Center for Cultural Renewal and was Professor of Liberal Arts in the Honors College of Houston Christian University for 14 years. Together, they have four children and 18 grandchildren.
Mr. Elliott is a parishioner of the Cathedral Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church where he served as Parochial Master of Ceremonies and as the founding Grand Knight of the Our Lady of Walsingham Council of the Knights of Columbus.
